Complete the application form and, to reserve your place on the list, mail it with the deposit as soon as possible. Once the initial application has been mailed, if you are a Master's candidate, you must send your resume, two letters of recommendation that address your teaching and language experience, a statement of your educational philosophy, and unofficial transcripts.
In addition, to demonstrate your Spanish language proficiency, all candidates must submit a copy of an ACTFL certified oral proficiency interview rating.
Applications must be postmarked by February 15.
We will mail acceptance letters by March 3. At that time we will send a separate SOU graduate admission application form (official transcripts required), an enrollment and registration form, and a packet of insurance and liability information. Once you are enrolled, you will be billed for tuition through your student account. An initial payment of $500 is due April 1. Balance due May 1.
Application Fee: $50
Please note: There has been a change in our application fee. We no longer request an application deposit. Rather, students must pay a one-time, non-refundable $50 application fee. Returning students do not have to pay this fee.
The program is limited to 22 participants per cohort. Masters candidates must be currently teaching Spanish at the middle school, high school or community college level and must have taught for one year.
NOTE: At this point, you are simply submitting an application. Submitting an application is not a guarantee of admission. All applications will be reviewed by the SLI Selection Committee and successful candidates will be notified via mail.

Financial Aid
Only master's candidates are eligible for financial aid. In order to receive financial aid, you must fill out the current year FAFSA. This will determine if you are eligible for financial aid and if so, how much aid you are eligible to receive. You also must have completed the graduate application form (which we send you after you are accepted to the program) and be admitted as a graduate student. Since this is a master's program, only federal loans (not direct grants) are available. Alternative loans (loans that the Oregon University system gives to students) may also be available. Money is not dispersed until the first day of class. Information about financial aid and the FAFSA is located on the financial aid website.
